Staff

Staff arrived at services in Fort Worth on Sabbath afternoon, July 22. Mr. Mario Seiglie from Santiago, Chile, and Mr. Ken Treybig, camp director shown at right, gave split sermons. Shown at left is Mr. Seiglie and his wife Caty, who supervised crafts for the girls. She brought project ideas from the ladies in Chile. After services on the Sabbath, the Fort Worth members provided a spaghetti dinner for everyone. After that the staff members went to camp to settle in and begin their training on Saturday night and Sunday before the campers began arriving at 4 PM.

Shown here are Camp Director Ken Treybig and Program Director Frank McCrady working on open activities for the evening. Campers choose which activity they would like to attend, within the limits of how many each activity can handle. Scheduling this year proved to be a challenge since the YMCA staff wanted to have two hour sessions for horseback riding and could only handle half a dorm at a time. They also wanted to have each dorm spend one whole day at the ropes course, going first through the team building low ropes elements, then moving on to the challenge section--the high ropes areas of climbing wall, pamper pole, etc. Other activity periods were an hour and twenty minutes.

At left are Head Counselor Dave Treybig and Kathy Treybig (wife of Ken Treybig). Dave Treybig's wife, Teddi, was also present and served as head counselor for the girls' counselors as well as helping schedule transportation needs to get campers to and from the softball fields and horseback riding, which were located on the camp property, but were reached faster by van.

Kathy Treybig was office manager and published the camp newsletter.

In this photo Ken Giese (basketball supervisor) and Britt Taylor (softball supervisor) are shown sharing a Christian Living class. These classes were done each morning after breakfast and before the first activity period to set the right tone for the day. Classes this year focused on moral values. (See summaries on Christian Living page.) Each dorm went to basketball twice and to softball twice. Basketball was also offered each evening as one of the open activities.

Below are several other pictures of staff, including a number of staff members in a staff/camper football challenge one evening.

Staff Contributions:

"Today the girls were acting our scenes from 'The Little Mermaid' during swimming".
Lena Disman, 1G

"The best camp experience was seeing my girls apply biblical principles of encouragement...really cooperating and meshing as a team."
Melanie Newman, 3G

This feeling takes us away
Our new "home" we want to stay
Even when the week is over
We have these memories to carry us over.

There is so much about ourselves
That we have discovered.
Just look at the strengths
That we have uncovered.

Each day as we grow stronger
The person we were is no longer.
For all this we owe Him praise
For we have encountered the Zone.
Anne Dungan, 4G

"One of my highlights was that I really enjoyed a killer game of softball with the girls."
Emily Sandilands, 4G

"I had the best time dodging flying bats and oul tips, especially working with 4G (the smallest girls)."
Danny Hooser, sports staff
