On Thursday, July 26, 2001 the annual campers vs. Staff football game was scheduled. At 1:00 p.m. the teams came together to rough it up. On the campers team many teens volunteered to play and all were given the opportunity to take their place on the front line. At breakfast that morning the campers were informed to check in with Jason Dove, the team quarterback, Michael Smith the team captain, John Bynum as team coach, and the starting line up Scott McIntosh, Bobby Polk, Brandon Howard, Jason Dove, Michael Smith, Anthony Brown, Seth Sanders, Jarcell Johnson (she beat Dan Hines, Justin Glasgow, Dan Richey, Ethan Sanders in a 50 yard sprint). The highlight of the game was a spectacular 30 yd hurl to Seth Sanders made by Jason Dove. Another great catch was made by Mr. Dan on a tight-spiral fling by Mr. Petty. Many great sacks, passes and runs made this a memorable game. With the many teens that volunteered to play, the campers team had at least one team change each touchdown. About 30 volunteered to play. The final score was Staff-14, Campers-0. The main goal of the game was not to outscore, it was to have a fun time and build a stronger bond between the youth of the church and the ministry.
