Dear Brethren,
It is my pleasure to inform you of progress in the integration of brethren and ministry of the Church of God, a Christian Fellowship (CGCF), into the United Church of God, an International Association (UCGIA). Many of you have already had the pleasure of welcoming brothers and sisters fellowshipping with us. They are in the process of finalizing the dissolution of their corporation and will be working hand in hand with us so that we can further the Church’s mission. George Meeker and I had the privilege to speak at the combined services of the St. Louis and Columbia, Missouri, congregations on the Sabbath of July 28. These UCGIA and CGCF congregations met together for the first time on the Sabbath of July 21 in a spirit of love and respect. In other parts of the country brethren have also combined for services.
Shortly after the United Church of God began, it was realized that a credentialing process was needed for ministers coming from other fellowships. A process was established and implemented in 1996 and about 250 men have gone through this process, including one current Council of Elders (COE) member.
On August 8, 2001, the COE evaluated the request of all CGCF ministers who had completed their paperwork in accordance with our process. We are now pleased to announce the credentialing of Eric Evans, Jack Hendren, Frank McCrady II, George Meeker, Larry Salyer and Rex Sexton. These men will be assisting the local pastors in their home areas while they learn some of UCG’s processes.
We appreciate what these men will add and look forward to reviewing and credentialing other elders from CGCF. Additional fellow laborers are a welcome relief as we look at present and future needs of the church. Thank you for your prayers for each of us on the council, for the ministry, and for each other as brothers and sisters in Christ.
In Christian love,
Roy Holladay
Chairman
