Feast 2001 in Zambia & Zimbabwe

From Victor Kubik, Indianapolis, IN

I would also like to thank everyone for their prayers for the safety of all ministers travelling to remote and sometimes dangerous places.

Bev and I also had a fulfilling Feast in Zambia and Zimbabwe. Before that we visited Johannesburg and Malawi. In Malawi we saw the completed new clinic we helped finance. Gladstone Chonde purposefully built the reception room larger so that it accomodate a small congregation. We had 20 there for the Day of Atonement. About 15 people migrated from WCG to UCG in August and the number of members in Malawi is approaching 30 in total attendance.

In Mumbwa, Zambia we held parts of three days of the Feast with 84 people. We are in the process of restoring cattle to this area devastated by corridor disease four years ago. Dale Schurter has provided two team of oxen. LifeNets is providing 24 heifers and a bull. The training program for calf feeding and care is starting Sunday, October 28th and will run for a week conducted by UCG member Gibbson Simalyata from Monze, Zambia who is driving out to the Mumbwa area today, Friday, October 26th with elder Kamabani Banda. Banda is also bringing out about $7,000 wholesale value of malaria, diarhhea and other anti-biotic medicine for the community of mostly Church members. Last year one child died of cerebral malaria. Most of the sicknesses are easily treated and we made certain that they have a year's worth of medicine in store. Shirley Kambani packaged the medicines individually for each family and it will be delivered today as the rainy season is about to begin.

This village has no electricity. Chris and Angela Moen provided 24 LED powered flashlights that go for 300-500 hours on a set of batteries to provide some evening light for this settlement.

In Zimbabwe we met with 28 brethren coming from Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi. The Zimbabweans are going through extremely stressful times in terms of health, economy and the country's political situation. I have posted at the request of the brethren in Zimbabwe their personal prayer requests along with their photos. They want to share some of their feelings with other brethren. Thank you for your prayers and concern.
