UCG Employee Howard Davis to Video in South Africa for PBS

From Victor Kubik, Indianapolis, IN

At the request of Lloyd Wright, President of WFYI, the major Indianapolis, Indiana outlet for the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) for television and radio, UCG Home Office media department employee and minister Howard Davis will travel to South Africa to film a PBS Special.

In exchange for Davis' television producer and camera production services, the UCG Home Office and WFYI will jointly own 20 hours of video documenting South Africa today, its culture, the AIDS crisis and social challenges.

Davis will be part of the official US People to People Ambassador Program led by Indiana First Lady Judy O'Bannon. As the Governor's wife she will be featured on camera in the WFYI PBS special program. Howard Davis visited in Indianapolis from October 22-24 and conferred at length with producers at WFYI and with First Lady Judy O'Bannon at the Governor's residence.

LifeNets was the source of contact which led PBS affiliate President Lloyd Wright to ask for Davis' services.

The activities of LifeNets in Southern Africa will be featured in a presentation in Johannesburg, South Africa on October 30 by UCG pastor Andre van Belkum to the 36 Indiana community leaders who will accompany Mrs. O'Bannon including Purdue and Indiana University officials, major philanthropists, government leaders and state representatives.

The United Church of God will be acknowledged in the PBS Special on the credits as a major contributor. Video footage will be available for use in a growing Home Office library of stock footage for UCG productions.
