From Steve Moody, pastor, Jackson/Memphis, TN; Sedgwick/Little Rock, AR:

The age of miracles has not passed.  Tom Gardner reported that he and Sue are at home.  They are both doing well.  The doctors at Vanderbilt  Medical Center had given up hope on Sue’s condition.  From the CAT scan they saw Sue’s stomach and small intestine were dead - not just dying but dead.  She was not digesting anything she ate.  It passed through the system unchanged.

Only a painful quantity of gas was being produced.  The gas had ballooned a section of the small intestine.  If this ruptured the doctors only gave her hours to live.  This was on Friday.  They stopped feeding her and put her on strong antibiotics.  Sue was anointed on the Sabbath.  She began to feel better right away.  In fact she improved remarkably.  She was doing so well that the doctors released her to come home.  But before she left the doctor wanted to do another CAT scan to see what was happening.

The CAT scan showed that her stomach and small intestine were not dead anymore.  In fact the doctor said that were as healthy looking as any healthy person.  There was no ballooning and no evidence of any damage at all.  On the way home from Nashville they stopped at Cracker Barrel and ate.  Sue had no problems eating.  Tom and Sue want everyone to thank our Father for His mercy and love.  We thank Him deeply for His intervention.

The medical staff at Vanderbilt were using the term “miracle” quite openly as were other people who heard of the healing from God.

Sue Gardner, a deaconess in the Jackson, Tennessee, congregation, is in Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville again.  She was experiencing extreme pain.  She went through colon cancer surgery over five months ago.  She has been going through chemotherapy since then.  The latest situation is grave.  The medical team says her small intestine is dying.  It has also ballooned out.  The immediate concern is that if it bursts she will die in a few hours.  The doctors are going to stop all food and fluids by mouth for four days and put her on extremely powerful antibiotics.  If the intestine has not ruptured by today (Monday) they are hopeful she could recover from this but only temporarily.  They give her at the outside only 90 days unless God intervenes and heals her.  Her husband, Tommy, is holding up but the stress is hard on him.  They both need our prayers for God’s will to be done in His mercy and compassion.

Sue Gardner, a deaconess of the Jackson, Tennessee, congregation, underwent cancer surgery this past Thursday.  She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.  It had spread and a portion of her intestine had to be removed as well.  She is still in serious condition with a negative reaction to the pain medication.  She and her husband, Tom, would deeply appreciate your prayers for her recovery.  She will have to undergo chemotherapy once she is able.
