From Fred Kellers, pastor, Murfreesboro/Nashville, TN; Bowling Green, KY:

Joan Duffield has died.  Had she lived to May 15, she would have been 78 years old.  She had improved considerably in recent months and the doctors were surprised that her cancer seemed to be in total remission.  She died unexpectedly on the Sabbath of May 5.  Joan was a wonderful servant of the congregation.  Years ago she requested permission to start a bulletin for the Murfreesboro congregation and she faithfully brought the bulletin to services, week after week, for many years.  She helped me personally by filling out the monthly church report for Murfreesboro until her health no longer permitted her to continue.  She and her husband, Wilbur, who is known to everyone as Duffy, greatly appreciated the many cards and letters they received from members all over the world.  We don't feel sorry for Joan, just for ourselves.

From Fred Kellers, pastor, Murfreesboro/Nashville, TN; Bowling Green, KY:

Joan Duffield, age 75, has been diagnosed with an aggressive, fast growing cancer in her throat.  She has had surgery to help her breathing and will be receiving chemotherapy once a week and radiation five days a week.  Doctors do not expect to stop the growth but hope to slow it and help her breathe.  She and her husband, Duffy, ask for your prayers.
