From Mark Welch, pastor, Tulsa/Oklahoma City/Lawton, OK:

Stephen Bowles was released from the hospital last Friday evening.  Although his knee was very painful, he enjoyed the Sabbath at home with his family.  He was able to spend a nice afternoon barbecuing on Father’s Day with his wife, Syvola, and two of his sons.  He also had the opportunity to spend time with his daughter and oldest son earlier last week.  Stephen had another heart attack at home Sunday evening.  He lost consciousness and never regained it, although he was taken to the ER.  He died peacefully as he was being transferred to the Critical Care Unit.  Stephen was an example of faith and perseverance and he was a great inspiration to all of us who knew him well.  He will certainly be missed, but he fought a good fight and now awaits the resurrection to eternal life in God’s Kingdom.  Thank you for your prayers for Stephen and please continue to pray that God will strengthen and comfort Syvola and the entire Bowles family.

From Mark Welch, pastor, Tulsa/Oklahoma City/Lawton, OK:

Stephen Bowles, a deacon from the Tulsa, Oklahoma, congregation, was taken to the hospital Wednesday evening.  He remains in the Critical Care Unit.  A little over a week ago he had a heart attack, but bounced back quickly and was at services this past Sabbath and Pentecost.  But, Stephen has had serious heart troubles for nearly 20 years and his heart and veins have suffered much damage during that time.  Although God has certainly sustained his life several times in the past, the current prognosis doesn’t look very good.  Your prayers for Stephen and for his wife, Syvola, would be greatly appreciated.

From Mark Welch, pastor, Tulsa/Oklahoma City/Lawton, OK:

Stephen Bowles, a deacon in the Tulsa congregation, has been having increased problems with his heart condition as he has been in and out of the hospital several times in the last month.  While in the hospital last Friday his heart stopped and was restarted with shock treatment. His heart is only working at approximately 20% capacity and he has congestive heart failure.

Surgery to insert a pacemaker/defibrillator seemed to go fine yesterday late afternoon.  Please pray that it will do the job for which it is intended and that Stephen's heart rate will be a lot more steady and stable from now on.  Stephen and his wife, Syvola, greatly appreciate your prayers for Stephen as they fully realize that it is God who has been and is sustaining Stephen's life.

Thank you for your continued prayers.
