The surgery
took place Monday morning as scheduled. A lumpectomy was performed
on the right breast and the sentinel lymph node was removed. This
was the lymph node closest to the tumor. No cancer cells were found in
the right lymph node which was good news!
The
surgery on the left breast was a different story. The mass turned
out to be larger than expected and cancer cells were found in the left sentinel
node which required the removal of all the lymph nodes on that side.
This elevated her cancer from Stage 1 to Stage 2. The recommended treatment
is for Norma to have both radiation and chemotherapy after
she has had time to heal from the surgery.
Norma
is feeling better and is resuming some light activity around the
house. She is taking short walks but needs to lots of
rest. Norma & Ray appreciate and thank you very much for your ongoing
prayers.
