From Stuart Segall,
pastor, Red Bluff/Eureka/Crescent City, CA:
David
Geary recently underwent surgery to repair an abdominal hernia which developed
as a result of having his kidney removed due to cancer in February 2005. In order to have the surgery, he had to discontinue
taking the study drug that he has been on this past year so that the surgical
wounds would heal. Prior to the surgery,
his doctors informed him that if, while off the drug, his tumors grew more than
25% since the last scan he would be removed from the study and not allowed to continue
taking the study drug. The new scans
revealed that not only have the tumors not grown during these past eight weeks
but have actually shrunk. In addition it
appears that some of the tumors may actually be dying. The doctors could not explain these results
other than it may be due to dietary changes.
David so hopes that this news uplifts all of you, especially those of
you who struggle with health trials of your own. David states “I am far from
being completely healed but once again am reminded that the God whom we serve
is in control and is able and willing to delivers us when his people cry out to
him in prayer.”

From Stuart Segall,
pastor, Eureka/Red Bluff, CA:
The
initial phase of David Geary’s experimental drug therapy was as follows.
The study required tumors to shrink 30 percent in order to remain on the
study drug. Because David’s tumors only shrank 28 percent they randomized
him (not telling him whether he would be receiving the drug or a placebo).
During these past eight weeks he remained on what he believed to be the real
drug. The recent test results revealed that David has not been
receiving the actual drug and his tumors have increased 29
percent along with new tumor activity in additional areas. As a
result of this news, David has now been placed back on the drug. He has every
expectation that the tumors will again shrink and looks to God to help and aid
him throughout.

From Stuart Segall,
pastor, Eureka/Red Bluff, CA:
David
Geary thanks all for prayers on his behalf. A recent CT scan revealed,
after David has been on a study drug (experimental) for the past 12 weeks, that
his tumors (8 in all) shrunk an average of 28%. This has been encouraging
for him and he feels God has been merciful. In this study, since they did
not shrink the required 30%, he has become part of a group that may be on a
placebo for the next phase of the study. They don’t tell you at this
point if you are taking the placebo or the drug. The next scan toward the
end of the summer will tell more. Thanks, again, for your continued
prayers.

From Stuart Segall,
pastor, Eureka/Red Bluff, CA:
David
Geary recently had his right kidney and adrenal gland removed and is still
recovering. He has 8 tumors that remain and will be placed on
medication next week to shrink and stop the growth of the remaining
tumors. Please continue praying for David through this process, and for
his complete healing.

From Stuart Segall,
pastor, Eureka/Red Bluff, CA:
David Geary, a member in Red
Bluff, CA, requests prayers for his serious condition. While David was at
the feast he was diagnosed with cancer in his kidneys, pancreas and
lungs. David was very shocked to learn of this. He has four daughters,
ages 7 to 14, and is very concerned about their future if he dies, as he is
divorced and greatly troubled about what would result if they were returned to
their mother. David, by the way, does not have any family in the church.
