From Rick Beam, pastor, Cape Girardeau /Poplar Bluff, MO; Paducah, KY:

Bertha Buck of the Cape Girardeau, Missouri, congregation is having to have 10 more radiation treatments on her lungs to combat two locations of cancer.  One is near the aorta artery presenting additional risk.  Even with the radiation, the doctor's prognosis is that Bertha only has four-six months to live.  Bertha is very positive in the face of this with her focus on God and trust in His will.  Please keep her and her family in your prayers.

From Rick Beam, pastor, Cape Girardeau /Poplar Bluff, MO; Paducah, KY:

Bertha Buck would appreciate your prayers. She had uterine cancer 11 years ago and in April 2005 she experienced severe pain in her hip.  Doctors discovered a growth on her hip, 2 on her spine and 2 spots in her lungs.  She underwent chemotherapy for a very aggressive small-cell carcinoma.  Currently, she has begun 30 days of radiation treatment on her right lung.

From David Johnson, pastor, Cape Girardeau and Poplar Bluff, MO and Paducah, KY:

Mrs. Bertha Buck would appreciate prayers on her behalf as she continues her chemotherapy for a very aggressive small-cell carcinoma.  Progress has been made and she is grateful for the prayers and cards she has received.

Bertha returned to the hospital Sunday to begin her next round of chemotherapy.  Unfortunately, the drugs have made it very difficult to regulate her sodium levels.  This causes heart irregularities, retention of fluids, etc.  Please continue to keep Bertha and her family in your prayers.

From David Johnson, pastor, Cape Girardeau and Poplar Bluff, MO and Paducah, KY:

Bertha Buck received an encouraging report as a result of her most recent CAT scan.  The very aggressive small-cell carcinomas in her lungs have shrunk and are now no longer visible on the CAT scan.  Tumors remain in her hip and spine, and she is continuing chemotherapy, but this scan was very positive.  She will receive a bone scan in a few months to determine what progress has been made and what therapy remains.

Bertha and her husband, Gene, wish to express their profound appreciation for the many prayers, cards, and letters offered on Bertha's behalf.  She has no doubt that God has intervened as a result of those intercessory prayers.  Please keep the family in your prayers because God's continuing intervention and healing are still needed before this trial is over.

From David Johnson, pastor, Cape Girardeau and Poplar Bluff, MO and Paducah, KY:

Gene and Bertha Buck deeply appreciate the cards and prayers received in the last two weeks. Doctors have determined that Bertha has small cell carcinoma, an extremely aggressive and fast growing cancer.  Using powerful chemotherapy, the doctors predict that she may survive six months, without chemotherapy she may only survive six weeks.  Your prayers are requested.

From David Johnson, pastor, Cape Girardeau and Poplar Bluff, MO and Paducah, KY:

Mrs. Bertha Buck, a member in the Cape Girardeau, MO congregation, would appreciate your prayers.  About ten years ago Bertha had surgery and radiation treatments for uterine cancer.  Recently she has been experiencing severe pain in her hip, and doctors have discovered a growth on her hip, two more on her spine, and two spots in her lung.  Tests are ongoing, and a treatment plan is still being devised, but your prayers for God's intervention and wisdom would be greatly appreciated.  She is receiving some powerful painkillers to reduce the pain in her hip, but they are not completely effective, and the pain is also seriously elevating her blood pressure.
