From Todd Carey, pastor, Williamsburg, VA & Delmar, DE:

Mr. Lawrence Burruss will be having surgery this Friday at 7:30am to relive pressure on his neck which may be causing the numbness in his hands and feet.  New rods and screws will be inserted to make this so, but the concern is for his bones which are brittle.  Because of this, there is no guarantee these screws will hold.  The procedure will last approximately six hours.  Please pray that the screws and rods hold up this time, and that he receives relief from the numbness he presently has.  He was up and walking today, and plans to do so again tonight.  Thank you for your heartfelt prayers for Lawrence & his wife, Barbara.

From Todd Carey, pastor, Williamsburg, VA & Delmar, DE:

Lawrence Burruss will be going home after over two months in hospitals from a broken neck caused by an automobile accident.  He has made significant progress and his therapists are pleased with his hard work and attitude.  Because he has a trache tube, he has been unable to swallow liquid or food for two months, and will have an examination this week to see if he able to.  His wife, Barbara, asks for your prayers in this area.  If unable to swallow he will be using the feeding tube which can be a little awkward at home.  Lawrence is also still very fragile as the bones in his neck had to be fused together.  Any sudden blow or fall could endanger his life, so doctors are teaching him how to "fall" to diminish the risk of breaking his neck a second time.

Of course this is very trying on Barbara and we continue to ask for God's intervention and comfort on both Lawrence and Barbara.  They also wish to thank everyone for the many cards and letters they have received.

The Burruss family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers, and cards.  Lawrence had surgery to fuse the bones together in his neck three weeks ago.  The surgery was successful, and Lawrence has been fitted with a neck brace.  The doctors then turned their attention to his other injuries including a bruised left lung which was filled with fluid.  The doctors drained the fluid last week and the lung re-inflated on its own.  Lawrence still needs prayers because and infection has found it's way into his lungs, and he needs God's healing to destroy the infection and regain his strength.

This has been a tremendous trial for Lawrence and his wife Barbara. Please continue to pray for God's intervention.

From Todd Carey, pastor, Williamsburg, VA & Delmar, DE:

Lawrence Burruss and his wife, Barbara, were involved in an automobile accident Sunday evening. Barbara received some cuts to he scalp and some bruising, but Lawrence suffered several broken ribs and unfortunately, a broken neck.

The doctors have now determined that surgery is necessary, in order to repair his broken neck. The time of the operation is scheduled to take place Tuesday, April 19. The exact time of the operation is yet to be determined.

The doctors want to perform the operation, coming in from the front of his neck. However, if that doesn't prove to be possible, they will have to enter from the back of the neck. This latter scenario is not desirable.

Please pray for Lawrence, as well as Barbara and the entire family.
