On Wednesday, May 21, 2003, UCG member Hans Andrzejewski (Darmstadt congregation) suffered a heart attack and was placed in intensive care. He was conscious and speaking Wednesday, expressing his hope that he would recover in time to attend the Feast of Tabernacles. On Thursday his condition worsened, and he was placed on life support systems. On Monday the attending doctors requested permission to take him off life support, and he died in the morning. Mr. Andrzejewski's wife Germania is a member and is already missing her husband of nearly 50 years and is receiving medication to calm her nerves following the five day ordeal with her husband.
