Maxine Blackwell, wife of Dean Blackwell, died of cancer Friday, Dec. 13, at about 4:30 p.m.. Her family was with her when she died, and she was not in a lot of pain at the time. She just went to sleep and didn't wake up. Dean and Maxine were married for over 49 years and had a full, abundant life together. The family is appreciative of all the cards and notes they received and is very thankful for all the prayers offered to God in their behalf. At this time your respect for family privacy for Dean and his immediate family (no phone calls, please) as they work through things would be greatly appreciated.

A memorial service in honor of Maxine's memory will be held Sunday, December 22 at 3:00 p.m. in Big Sandy at the Worldwide Church of God building.

My sister-in-law Maxine Blackwell (wife of Dean Blackwell) went to Houston and is now in the M.D. Anderson Hospital (Cancer Clinic). She will be undergoing treatments for the ovarian cancer there. She is in very serious condition and, without God's intervention, the prognosis is not good. Dean and Maxine are together, and their children are keeping close contact with them. They have requested that no one telephone them at the hospital or at their daughter's home in Houston, where they are staying. Maxine is very weak and talking on the phone is very tiring. They are not taking any phone calls at this time, as they work through this very difficult time. Your continued prayers for them would be very much appreciated.

I will post updates on this site as I know more (I am in contact with their daughter on a fairly regular basis). If you would like more information, feel free to give me a call anytime. Please respect Dean and Maxine's request for privacy at this time, but please continue to keep them in your prayers.

This is obviously a very difficult time for her and for Dean. Your prayers for God's healing for her as well as His comfort and strength for both of them would be very much appreciated.
